Abstract
Frontodendroidopsis gibbiceps, a new species of fire-colored beetle, is described from a single male taken in the Xiling Snow Mountains, in central Sichuan Province, China at an elevation of 1300–2100 meters. This is the second described Frontodendroidopsis, the other being the Japanese F. ocularis. A somewhat similar cranial modification, enlarged compound eyes, and strongly pectinate antennae with an elongate antennal pedicel clearly place the new species in Frontodendroidopsis. The swollen antennal insertions, mildly carinate Irons, and conspicuously emarginate seventh abdominal stemite of male F. gibbiceps distinguish it from F. ocularis.
