Studies on the internal structure of the foregut of Phaneropterinae (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae)

Abstract

The internal structure of the foregut of 7 species belonging to 4 genera of the katydid subfamily Phaneropterinae is described using light and scanning electron microscopy. The taxonomic significance of the structure is discussed. The correlations between foregut structure and food type are briefly discussed.
