Thermal Conductivity of Selenium Doped with Zinc at Different Concentrations in the Solid and Liquid States

Pages 209-212 | Received 10 May 1995, Published online: 24 Sep 2006

Abstract

We have measured the thermal conductivity in both solid and liquid states for amorphous sample of selenium doped with three different concentrations (10,1000,50000 ppm) of zinc. The measurements were taken in the temperature range from 323 to 713 K, and were carried out using the concentric cylinder method. It was found that thermal conductivity of the samples is of the phonon type. Its temperature dependence follows the relation kph T −1, and can be explained by the influence of thermal effects on the atomic structure.
