Family size, intelligence and social class

Abstract

I am most grateful to Dr Blackburn for his examination of my pamphlet.¹ My aim, however, was not (as he apparently supposes) to offer any ‘conclusive evidence’ about ‘the actual extent of the decline’, but merely (as the opening summary emphasizes) to make out a ‘case for a carefully planned inquiry on a large and systematic scale’. Nevertheless, for that very reason any preliminary discussion of the difficulties or fallacies likely to be involved is doubly welcome.
