Abstract
Interest in mitral stenosis has been aroused by recent attempts at surgical correction of the lesion. Such attempts can be better evaluated if the pathologic physiology of mitral stenosis is understood. A characteristic case is presented together with a discussion of diagnostic criteria and treatment.
