Cortisone and Corticotropin in the Treatment of Cutaneous Diseases

Pages 10-14 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

The improvement that follows the use of cortisone and corticotropin in most diseases of the skin is of short duration. Maintenance therapy may control, but does not cure, any of the serious dermatoses. Relapses are common, both during and after treatment. In order to produce even temporary successful effects, the physiologic actions of the drugs must be understood.
