Abstract
To make the diagnosis of acute glaucoma is imperative. To make the diagnosis of chronic primary glaucoma is the general diagnostician's opportunity. Unfortunately, this is not easy and the picture is not an optimistic one. There are no stereotyped answers or solutions. Too many patients reach the ophthalmologist too late. Consideration of the diagnosis will result in earlier recognition of the disease and reduce the incidence of blindness.
