The Acute Abdomen

Age and Frequency of Incidence as Aids in Establishing the Diagnosis

Pages 19-25 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

Frequency of occurrence as a diagnostic aid is essential in dealing with a condition as difficult to diagnose as the acute abdomen. A statistical analysis of approximately 1500 cases of acute abdomen observed in the Robert Packer Hospital indicates that an age and frequency of incidence relationship may be helpful in diagnosing 13 common abdominal ailments.
