Pages 273-281 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

This article comprises a summary of the work done in our laboratory on traumatic shock in laboratory animals. The underlying fluid and electrolyte changes, the relation of hemodynamic changes to mortality, and the therapeutic results with saline solutions, blood and plasma are presented. Standardized trauma from burns, tourniquet application or hemorrhage is employed, and evaluation of therapy is made primarily on a basis of mortality.
