Abstract

There are four grades of the three main types of ophthalmoscopic hypertensive signs which occur in the retinal arterioles. Acute and chronic hypertension can be differentiated on the basis of these signs and, therefore, a better evaluation of the treatment can be achieved. The changes occurring in the retinal arterioles are illustrated by both diagrams and photographs.
