Aphasia—Etiology and Classification

Abstract

A simple and practical classification of the aphasic disorders encountered in clinical practice emphasizes the so-called receptive aphasias because these are often due to emboli, infections and tumors. Their accurate recognition may reveal that they are not always manifestations of simple apoplexy and may call for specific and effective treatment.
