Gout—Its Diagnosis and Treatment

Abstract

Gout has become the forgotten disease, seldom recognized though rather prevalent. Early recognition and prompt treatment can prevent articular and renal damage. Colchicine remains the most specific drug for the relief of acute attacks and the most valuable in the prophylactic management between attacks, but several newer agents are proving their therapeutic worth as adjunctive measures.
