Burns Treated By An Open Method

Pages 26-31 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

A report is made of 352 severely burned patients treated successfully by an open method. The treatment employed is described. The various complications encountered, as a result of or coincident with the burns, are listed and discussed. There were only 4 deaths in the series; the factors contributing to the low mortality are presented. It is emphasized that successful treatment of severely burned patients is dependent to a large degree on full understanding of underlying pathology.
