Abstract
Arthroplasty of the hip with removal of the lesser trochanter gives the disabled patient a usable, painless and comfortable hip. This procedure has been used over 20 years and has withstood the test of time. Patients over 70 years of age with subcapital fractures of the neck of the femur are ideal candidates for the procedure, as it is a recognized fact that poor results usually occur following this type of fracture.
