Abstract
Hemorrhagic disorders are relatively common and usually the treatment is readily determined. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura should be treated with ACTH or cortisone, frequently followed by splenectomy. In secondary thrombocytopenic purpura, the treatment is directed toward the primary disease. Nonthrombocytopenic purpura is due to changes in the capillary walls or to alterations in the normal clotting elements of the blood. Treatment of these conditions is discussed.
