Pages 372-375 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

Since the body has no facilities to store oxygen, continuous ventilation of the lungs is required to maintain life. Within the hospital or out, numerous conditions arise which in themselves need not be fatal but which result in death because of associated respiratory difficulties. The author discusses causes of respiratory emergencies and describes simple but effective means of treatment.
