Abstract

In the past 10 years, improved technics of surgery and anesthesia and availability of compatible blood have added great impetus to the surgical treatment of occlusive artery disease. Surgical procedures include grafting, sympathectomy and thrombendarterectomy. The authors favor grafting. Presenting data from a series of 525 grafts, they point out that although many problems remain to be solved, success may be expected in 80 per cent of grafting procedures.
