Angiocardiography in Diagnosing Congenital Malformations of the Heart and the Great Vessels

Pages 584-593 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

Angiocardiography is a complex procedure which requires a team of specialists for efficiency and best results. Angiocardiography should be used only to provide highly significant information or when diagnosis cannot be made by other means. The authors describe the four currently used methods of angiocardiogramphy and discuss its clinical applications. They also point out that angiocardiography gives an exact preoperative diagnosis, which makes it possible to determine whether hypothermia or extracorporeal circulation should be used.
