Abstract
Unprecedented long-term administration of drugs has increased the incidence of iatrogenic disease. Peptic ulcer may result from adrenocorticoid and phenylbutazone therapy. Aspirin may produce gastroduodenal irritation. Rauwolfia alkaloids stimulate gastric acid secretion. Acute staphylococcal enterocolitis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, and anorectal inflammation are occasionally associated with use of antibiotics.
