Abstract

Red eyes are caused by foreign bodies; acute congestive, chronic simple and chronic congestive glaucoma; acute iritis; and conjunctivitis, which may be bacterial, viral or allergic in origin.

Accurate diagnosis permits early and definitive treatment of numerous potentially serious threats to vision.

Signs and symptoms of the causative conditions are described, and preferred therapy is indicated.
