Abstract
Diagnosis of schizophrenia is within the province of the clinician. It rests chiefly on the history and observed behavior of the patient, on his responses to the physician, and on the feelings he evokes in the trained observer.
Therapeutic principles are derived naturally from understanding the schizophrenic person s experience in the world about him. Success in treating schizophrenia depends on understanding the patient's psychologic and social status and on the skillful administration of drugs and other therapy.
