The Role of a Division of Clinical Pharmacology in a University Environment

Abstract

A brief history is given of the development and activities of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The principles of its operation include continuing emphasis on methodology of evaluation of drugs, selection of study materials that are of scientific interest, pursuit of both clinical and nonclinical research problems, multidisciplinary approach, stability of support and personnel, and financial support free of restrictions.
