Abstract
Leg cramps may be divided into two main types: (1) actual leg cramps, usually accompanied by muscle spasm, and (2) leg cramps and paresthesia caused by peripheral neuritis but not necessarily accompanied by muscle spasm.
Because cramps in the legs and pain in the legs and feet are caused by a variety of conditions, it is important to determine the cause of the symptoms before deciding on the proper type of treatment.
