Abstract
A majority of the anticancer agents are useful if used in specific ways against specific kinds of tumors. No single drug can be expected to be effective against the 100-odd kinds of malignancy. All should be considered experimental as to dosage, indications, tumor specificity and side reactions; most of them are extremely toxic. Nevertheless, they have provided palliation in many cases and have demonstrated the anticancer activity of a heterogeneous variety of bio-logicals and chemicals. Emphasis is on drugs that can be used in general practice if reasonable care is exercised.
