Nutrition in the Aged

Abstract

Caloric intake need not be limited simply because a person is getting old, provided the intake was not excessive in early middle age and provided the same schedule of activity is maintained. A varied diet in proper amounts, without special supplements, usually will cover the requirements of old age. The relation between obesity and degenerative disease is close enough to warrant consideration of prevention of obesity as the major nutritional measure to take in preparation for old age.
