Abstract
Treatment of depressions is very different today from what it was 20 or even 10 years ago. Therapy is much more effective, and the public and the medical profession generally are more willing to seek psychiatric assistance. We are better able to distinguish between the various types of depression and hence have a clearer conception of the form of treatment that will be most effective. It is possible to recognize many depressions early and treat them on an ambulant basis. Methods of treatment are outlined which have been most effective.
