Detection of Food Allergy

Abstract

Criteria which are helpful in the diagnosis of food allergy include a positive food history, constitutional symptoms, perennial symptoms and, in asthma, cyclic occurrence, exacerbation in the winter, and attacks late at night. Skin tests are of limited value, but their use is warranted because occasionally they furnish leads to the correct diagnosis. Elimination diets are discussed. Sample diets (addenda) are available on request.
