Abstract
New discoveries, overemphasis on specific dietary factors, and lack of a definite guide for minimal dietary requirements may confuse the problem of infant feeding. However, certain nutritional needs must be fulfilled if the infant is to develop normally. The authors discuss the basic aspects of infants' nutritional requirements, dividing them into the categories of water and electrolytes, calories, proteins and amino acids, carbohydrates, fat and linoleic acid, minerals, and vitamins.
