Abstract
Chondrosarcoma has a benign onset. It may occur at any age but is seen predominantly in the fourth and fifth decades of life. Radical surgical removal is advisable. The tumor is radioresistant, and radiation often does not relieve the symptoms. Local recurrences are frequent. The tumor usually metastasizes via vascular channels to the chest rather than to other organs or lymphatics. Five of the 34 patients were known to have had previous skeletal abnormalities at the site of the tumor.
