Abstract
The majority of acute nasal injuries are treated inadequately. Patients and physicians often are unaware of the importance of adequate early treatment to attain good functional and aesthetic reconstruction. The drawbacks of a “wait-and-see” attitude are enumerated and a plan of treatment for acute injuries is outlined. Chronic nasal injury often is treated unsuccessfully because of diagnostic errors, excessive surgical trauma, or failure to observe surgical principles. A general plan of management is suggested which promises maximal safety and minimal risk.
