Abstract
The depressive syndromes may be classified in three groups: psychotic, psychoneurotic and drug-induced.
Treatment may be either medical or psychiatric, the choice being based on the best individual approach for the patient. Factors involved in the choice of management are discussed.
The authors present a standardized human bio-assay technic and associated psychologic testing technics for evaluating patient response to the antidepressant drugs, and offer a sequential regimen of treatment.
