Urethral Caruncle, Gonorrheal Infection, and Stricture

Abstract

Treatment of caruncles varies from cauterization to surgical excision; a high rate of recurrence has been reported.

Almost all gonorrheal infections respond promptly to adequate antibiotic therapy, penicillin being the most widely used agent. Repeated urethral dilations usually are successful in treatment of urethral stricture. In severe cases preliminary drainage by supra-pubic cystostomy may be necessary, or one may have to resort to surgical therapy.
