Abstract
In gastric carcinoma, “radical subtotal gastric resection” including removal of the subpyloric nodes and the spleen gives a much better opportunity for cure than a less radical procedure. The five year survival rate is more than twice as high for patients without metastasis as it is for patients with metastasis. The over-all five year survival rate following surgical treatment of carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and ampulla of Vater has been encouraging.
