Abstract
A child should have an ophthalmologic examination when he is about three years old, a complete battery of eye tests before he enters school, and regular checkups at two year intervals thereafter.
Parents often do not realize the necessity of such examinations; therefore, a good eye screening program to help physicians and school personnel identify children with eye problems is a major need in America today.
The author presents a practical discussion of this subject, including methods of setting up an eye screening program, equipment to be used, and pitfalls encountered.
