Abstract
Some of the more common conditions causing conduction hearing loss are discussed in relation to the newer surgical measures available for correction. Results have been encouraging and in many cases even dramatic. The restoration of serviceable hearing changes a person's life far more than most of us realize. Unfortunately, not every patient with conduction hearing loss can be benefited, and before a corrective procedure is undertaken the patient should be thoroughly informed concerning the chances of success and failure. Sensorineural hearing loss still is not amenable to surgical correction.
