Abstract
Factors involved in auto-immune disease can be related to the antigen, the antibody- producing cells, and any control mechanism relevant to their interaction.
Auto-immune damage may result from specific auto-antibodies, immunologically competent cells, or deposition of antigen-antibody complexes.
Genetic and constitutional factors are emerging as important determinants of auto-immune disease.
