Cancer of the Cervix Uteri; General Considerations

Abstract

Cervical cancer is primarily a local disease. Regional and distant metastases do not occur as often as one might expect. It' is of utmost importance that the primary tumor be treated adequately. In selecting therapy the likelihood of metastasis to regional lymph nodes is an important factor since such extension has a direct bearing on prognosis.
