Present-Day Management of Gastric Cancer

Abstract

It is doubtful that total gastrectomy or extended total gastrectomy will do much to increase the cure rate of gastric cancer. Earlier recognition and earlier operation are the only means by which resectability and curability rates can be improved. When a tumor has developed to the stage where a very radical procedure must be done, operative mortality rises and the cure rate falls.
