The Future for Drug Treatment of Viral Disease

, PH.D.
Pages 522-526 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Clinically useful agents are now available for certain viral infections, and great hope can be based on the fact that established viral disease will respond to drug treatment. The belief that virus vaccines can be the only solution to viral disease may be weakening slightly. Some alternatives to vaccines might be in order. It seems unlikely that a single approach will be suitable against all viral disease.
