Management of Acne Vulgaris in General Practice

, M.D.
Pages 538-542 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

A practical approach to management of acne in general practice is outlined. It is worthwhile to explain to the patient the rationale and aims of therapy, which are summarized here as reduction of the flow of oil, “unblocking of the pores,” and combating of infection. The use of antibiotics to control pustular, nodular and cystic forms of acne represents a significant advance in therapy.
