Abstract

Localized (pretibial) myxedema is a manifestation of Graves' disease and may occur when the patient is euthyroid, hyperthyroid or hypothyroid. It is invariably associated with exophthalmos. Clubbing of the fingers or of fingers and toes may occur. The cause is not known, and there is no effective treatment; the condition sometimes will subside spontaneously.
