Abstract
Roentgenologic diagnosis of small hiatal hernias can be quite difficult. The incidence of these hernias in various series is influenced to some extent by the amount of effort expended in trying to demonstrate them. The technic of this x-ray examination is becoming more or less standardized. To make an unqualified diagnosis of a small sliding hiatal hernia, one must establish that the cardia lies above the diaphragm. Some features that may aid in diagnosis are described.
