Abstract

A high degree of success has been achieved with corticosteroid therapy in rheumatoid arthritis at the Columbus Medical Center. Factors contributing to success, in addition to the use of small doses, have been proper selection of patients and of steroids, maintenance of a basic therapeutic program, anticatabolic therapy to counteract negative nitrogen balance, and frequent use of local steroid injections.
