Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and the Collagen Diseases

Abstract

Growing recognition of Hashimoto's thyroiditis is only partly due to increased awareness and improved diagnostic methods. Recent evidence suggests an increase in the actual incidence of the disease. It also seems probable that a number of connective tissue diseases are associated more often with Hashimoto's thyroiditis than would be expected on a random basis. There may be a common factor in the development of these conditions.
