Abstract
A few simple questions designed to elicit evidence of neurologic function can furnish valuable clues to brain tumor. An unusual taste or smell, brief blurring of vision or flashes of light, buzzing in the ears, weakness or numbness in the extremities, and difficulty in speaking are examples. Papilledema may be unaccompanied by headache, and vice versa. Visual field testing is a valuable aid to early diagnosis. Unilateral nerve deafness plus tinnitus equals acoustic neuroma until proved otherwise.
