Abstract

A case of severe hypoglycemia is described which began with intermittent coma and lasted more than three days. The patient, a 73 year old woman weighing only 90 lb., had taken 375 mg. of chlorpropamide per day for four weeks, during which time she had almost completely eliminated carbohydrate from her diet. Her physician had found “a trace of sugar” in her urine.
