Abstract

The physician who performs bronchoscopy should be equally proficient in the use of the esophagoscope. Respiratory symptoms are often related to disorders of the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. The broncho-esophagologist is an important member of the medical team concerned with diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the chest. Close cooperation among all the members of this team is essential.
