Psychological Tests and Pediatric Practice

, PH.D.
Pages 536-540 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Close collaboration between the physician who works with children and the psychologist must be maintained so that together they may offer the best possible care for the child with emotional and social problems. The author discusses some of the basic considerations about psychological tests, and gives the reasons why tests of intelligence should not be accepted at face value. Even with their limitations, psychological tests, when selected properly and interpreted with care and responsibility, are useful in evaluating children who have problems.
