Laboratory Diagnosis of Syphilis

Abstract

Just as in other disease processes, laboratory tests for syphilis must be interpreted in the light of clinical findings. Serologic tests are now sensitive and accurate in their detection of late and older early syphilis. Tests for very early syphilis are a much needed addition to syphilis detection.
