Abstract
The undescended testicle should be brought into the scrotum by the age of six or seven years. If human chorionic gonadotropin fails to effect descent, the testicle is brought down surgically. Management of mumps orchitis should be conservative; use of pooled plasma is worthwhile for prophylaxis but is valueless once orchitis has developed. Conservative measures are also indicated in epididymitis except when recurrent attacks produce incapacitation. Testicular torsion must be relieved within the first few hours if the testis is to be saved. Tumors of the testis, with rare exceptions, are malignant.
